The exhibition “To Work and Live” showcases the history of the constructivist architectural trend in Russia through over 500 exhibits. The exhibition explores projects, models, and photographs from the 1920s-1930s, highlighting the utopian dreams and aspirations of constructivist architects.

The exhibition held at the Zotov Centre occupies two floors and creates a unique atmosphere through the use of contrast. The project’s main focus is on colour and colour combinations, which present a challenge due to the complex shades used in the constructivist and avant-garde architecture. To address this, a permanent track system was installed in each hall, and the team worked with the equipment available at the Zotov Centre. The Centre’s lighting equipment includes various angles and accessories, allowing for precise adjustment of the light intensity for each object in the exhibition. However, the team faced challenges in balancing the architect’s request for ample light in the space with the need to accommodate the different lighting requirements of the exhibit’s colours. There are also restrictions on the light standards for the exhibit.

Despite these challenges, the exhibition successfully showcases interesting and complex color combinations.
