The Quayside is a mixed-use development that provides an innovative and sustainable environment for work, dine, recreation and relaxation to new CBD of Kowloon East. The project was carefully and intensely studied from the early stage of planning by collaboration of various professional consultants, which could enhance building performance and wellness of workers, and eventually response social impact to the community. Direction and approach in lighting design also took this big theme of the project into consideration; conducting visibility and glare study of façade lighting from different viewpoints, defining unique shape of twin buildings with the fine detail preventing lighting pollution, enhancing interior design features such as grand spiral stairs with combination use of indirect and direct lighting, highlighting softly external green wall with indirect, trying cutting-edge technology of luminaire for working space, etc. This 5year journey of the project with numerous and meaningful challenges gave us more feeling sense of social responsibility as lighting consultant. The project was completed with internally influential certification such as LEED Platinum, Beam Plus Platinum and WELL Gold.
