My mother’s side of the family have all been zany and extravagant. Granny was a 1920s flapper girl. Short bob, feathers and all and my aunt a bohemian interior designer with a penchant for hats and jewellery. My mother was an actress and loved to play up to her flamboyant reputation!

One of my first memories was seeing my mother dressed up to go out to dinner in a glamorous long evening gown wearing huge jewelled earrings which shone like stars. I was mesmerised! So was born my love of jewellery – precious stones, vintage and costume alike.

It inspired my interior designs where I loved to combine the dazzling with the course, rough with the smooth – a true nod to the faded grandeur style of the 1920s.
Now, as a lighting designer I am often asked for recommendations for decorative fittings from architects and interior designers and I have always struggled to find a variety of original designs to recommend. So I thought I would create a collection myself. So The Jewel Collection was born!

I started by sketching some designs, inspired by vintage and precious stone jewellery and created a concept board from which the sketches were developed into the final designs. I found a wonderful company to help me realise these designs, who had an in-house glass blower and were UK based, which was important to me to be ‘made in Britain’.

This first collection consists of a table lamp, floor lamp and bar or nautical lamp (which can be made to be bolted from below).

You can choose your ‘jewels’ from diamond cut glass, sapphire blue, emerald green, ruby red and amethyst. Also a ‘pearl’ finish.

You can also choose whether you would like the ‘jewel’ finished smooth or ‘emerald’ cut. This way you can design your own light fitting to suit your taste and interior scheme. The bar light can also be mix and matched and comes with a ‘diamond’ glass cut shade.

These decorative lights would look superb in a restaurant or bar seating area as well as in an elegantly designed residential interior setting. A space where you sit and can truly appreciate the cut, colour and style of the designs.

Next year we are bringing out a ‘pendant’ chandelier inspired by jewel necklaces and wall lights that hang as elegantly as a pair of drop pearl earrings.
