LIGHTLINKS concept was to reference the fundamentals of cinema where light passing through film to create images on the screen. The play of light pattern on walls and reflection and glow of materials is something LIGHTLINKS explored in this design.

The entrance area is the main area that has the ticket office and kiosks, the design has oval rings of light suspended from the ceiling at different angles to create movement and interest. The inner and outer faces of the rings had a cove light, with RGBW with pixel control. The mirror ceiling and reflective floor create d reflections that helped to enhance the overall lighting effect. A number of scenes were programmed for the client, ranging from exciting chasing effects to simple, calm color changes, ensuring the lighting would suit the various events that would be held there. Downlights above the counters were used for discrete functional lighting, the careful positioning of the downlights also highlighted the front of the counter that creates dramatic shadow and highlights. The wall and parts of the celling had a water effect metal finish which helps to reflect the lighting. The ticket vending machines had a metal mesh made from holes which were backlit evenly, which helps to attract attention to the machines.

The main corridor to the cinemas features a vaulted ceiling with architectural arches. This feature was highlighted which creates a rhythm of light along the ceiling. Cove lighting was used at both sides of the corridor to provide general lighting and to highlight the textures of the wall. The entry to the cinemas had a feature wall light which consists of glowing glass disks arranges vertically.

The stair area has layers of oval cove in a feature red ceiling, the layers of light highlight the stair area, the stairs have a concealed cove light at low level for functional light and a cove light at handrail level to highlight eh material of the handrail. The corridor has led rope light in the style of neon light arranged in curves to follow the ceiling design and the sides of the corridor has cove lighting.

The house lighting in the cinemas uses the play of light and dark to create dramatic lighting effects. House 2, 3, and 4, the lighting design utilized narrow beam shafts of light that would graze across the walls, accentuating the triangular shapes on the wall. This technique helps to generate an engaging, cinematic atmosphere through the interplay of light and dark. Step lighting is used throughout the cinemas. General lighting is provided by recessed downlights, the front stage area was also highlighted for events and premiers. In House 5 +6 and the Directors Club cinemas, water effect light pattern projectors were used to cast shimmering water effects onto the side walls of the cinema. Small uplights with anti-glare attachments were used to catch the underside of the wall feature to accentuate the wavy form of the walls.
