Nike’s new store in London’s Westfield shopping centre is 17,000 sq ft of retail space, over two floors. It is based around the global “Nike Rise” store concept, which empowers athletes to make sports a daily habit. Into worked with Nike and TP Bennett to translate the Nike Rise concept to this store.

The Women’s ground floor concept has a white palette of finishes and the men’s first floor concept had very dark palette, so the challenge was to make sure both were illuminated well in conjunction with the vast digital screens throughout the floors.

The main lighting treatment throughout the store is based on a 48V lighting track and spotlight system, integrated into the unistrut ceiling grid which runs throughout. This was positioned to make sure all faces of the product were illuminated, whether mid floor mannequins or perimeter dislays. Philips Brilliant white 3000K CRI > 90 led chips were used in the track spotlights and depending on the product type being illuminated, super spot, medium and flood beam angles were all used.

Tying the store together was a backlit polycarbonate sheet system to the perimeter. Integrated into the system were linear wall grazers in 4000K 10 degree to the top and bottom , combined with a suspended linear profile with opal diffuser in 3500K to the front of the clothes display. Large feature light rings in the same profile were suspended around column to through the centre of the ground floor to lead the customer through.

At completion, Into alongside Ansorg, commissioned all aspects of the lighting scheme to ensure all products were fully illuminated as the customer travels through the store.
