This New Construction home is located in the foothills of Northern Scottsdale, Silverleaf/Arizona. Set in the desert landscape, with catci in the immediate foreground and the valley beyond, it was important to incorporate retractable glass doors to enable the intended indoor/outdoor living.

The outdoor terraces and partially covered spaces connect the indoor with the outdoor and expand the 8500sf home to an even more generous living zone.

In response to the fluidity of the indoor-outdoor spaces, it was paramount to balance the electric lighting with the intensity of the desert daylighting. Mitigation of glare and privacy screening are provided through 3M window treatments and film in juxtaposition with mechanized daylight control via rollershades and in Private rooms double layered drapery. In the Great Room and Dining the floor to ceiling drape is architectural statement and color accent in reference to the memerobilia and artefacts.

Adjustable, accent lighting plays an integral role in the residence to highlight the art, artefacts and details representing the cultural influences and individual backgrounds of the South African trasnplants with Greek and Dutch origins. Linear wall grazers are an additional feature throughout the residence to accentuate the haptic wall treatments. Wall finishes are textured plaster with off-white, pearl and taupe hues; other walls are finished with varieties of wallpaper, from unique art-work prints with ethnic themes to patterned textures.

The architectural lighting complements and balances the variety of Light objects and chandeliers in significant zones. The decorative fixture selection further expresses the cultural background of the owners and are strategically located in the Entry, Hallway, Stair, Exterior Walls, Family Dining, Formal Dining, and Master En-Suite. The closets and personal organization are a continuation to the En-Suite Bathrooms, which are customized with fully integral architectural lighting. Small profile, high efficacy linear LED technology was important to source for integrating into the slender contemporary shelving throughout.

Lighting and Sound Controls are all interconnected and allow air and light to flow through the home, no matter time of day or season.
