Lighting was at the heart of realizing Pablo and Jordie’s vision for Longtime, transforming their heritage building in Canggu into a vibrant bar and restaurant that captures the charm of a mid-century modern vacation home infused with the energy of Bali’s nightlife.

Conceived as a love letter to Asian cuisine and the magic of a perfect dinner party—stretching from al fresco aperitifs to after-dinner cocktails and spinning tunes into the wee hours—Longtime demanded a lighting design that could adapt to its many moods. The goal was to create a seamless flow between bright, welcoming daytime spaces and the intimate, mischievous glow of evenings.

As evening approaches, the lighting design shifts to a more intimate, warm white light to support the dinner service. To achieve a cathedral-like lighting effect and avoid spotlighting while maintaining comfortable brightness, we integrated linear grazing along the window arches, which subtly highlighted their curves without overwhelming the space. Collaborating with interior designers at Minded Studio by Brandworks, we also worked the lighting into the new ceiling details to preserve the venue’s scale and ambiance. We opted for an RGB scheme that allows Longtime’s personality to shine after dark, with a sensual palette that turns the walls a deep pink after dinner. Low-level ambient lighting, including table lamps on the bar and tables, created warmth, while the RGB system enhanced textures like exposed brick
