ProductLED Light Sheet 2.7 TM66ManufacturerApplelec Projects
Applelec LED Light Sheet TM66 2.7 is an intentional evolution that brings together exceptional energy performance and independently verified circularity. Manufactured using recycled and recyclable materials and delivering an efficacy of up to 227 lm/W through Grade A, highly energy efficient LEDs, it establishes a new benchmark for responsible backlighting systems.
Applelec LED Light Sheet has long been recognised as a trusted solution for achieving ultra even illumination in slim profiles across a wide variety of architectural and commercial applications, both internal and external. This latest development builds on that reputation, introducing a sustainability led variant that has become the first LED light panel of its kind to achieve independent TM66 circularity verification, exceeding expectations with an exceptional score of 2.7.
This evolution was driven directly by industry demand. Lighting designers, architects and specifiers increasingly asked for clearer evidence of circularity, with TM66 targets of around 2.2 becoming a common benchmark. Applelec responded by redesigning the product with the explicit aim of exceeding those expectations, achieving a verified TM66 score of 2.7 and demonstrating what is possible when sustainability is designed in from the outset rather than applied retrospectively.
Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Applelec LED Light Sheet TM66 2.7 was developed to address a fundamental challenge within the lighting industry. While energy efficiency is widely discussed, far fewer products consider material provenance, repairability and genuine end of life outcomes. Applelec approached the redesign holistically, examining performance across the full product lifecycle.
The Applelec LED Light Sheet TM66 2.7 is manufactured using recycled and recyclable materials and is designed to be fully recyclable at end of life. Integrated with Grade A, highly energy efficient LEDs, it delivers excellent light output and long-term reliability while minimising energy consumption. Material selection and construction have been refined to enable disassembly and component recovery, supporting reuse wherever possible.
This design intent is realised through the Applelec Recycling and Refurbishment Scheme, a take back initiative shortlisted for a Made in Britain Impact Award for Sustainable Initiative of the Year. Through this scheme, Applelec LED Light Sheet can be returned at end of life, where components are assessed, reused or upgraded where viable, with remaining materials recycled responsibly. This provides architects, designers and specifiers with a clear, practical route to circularity rather than reliance on theoretical sustainability claims.
From a performance perspective, the Applelec LED Light Sheet TM66 2.7 continues to deliver the attributes designers and specifiers expect. The panel provides bright, uniform illumination with no visible spotting, enabling slimline depths and refined detailing without compromise.
The TM66 2.7 rating independently verifies the environmental credentials of the Applelec LED Light Sheet. By combining proven lighting performance, exceptional energy efficiency, recycled and recyclable material content and a robust end of life pathway that does not currently exist elsewhere in the market, the Applelec LED Light Sheet TM66 2.7 demonstrates how established lighting technologies can be fundamentally reimagined to set new expectations for performance, circularity and responsibility within the lighting industry.
