The design of the Insight light shows a special visual effect. It combines a sense of weightlessness, a balance of proportions, an original pattern of light and successful engineering solutions. Thanks to the latter, a laconic design was created with an elegant and elementary design, which is visually noise-free and creates a pure design language. This was due to two light sources closed by matte diffusers and toned acrylic that directs the flow of light and makes the lamp hover. An important feature is the light pattern that is created in the surrounding space.

The main inspiration for me was the properties of light. I wanted to show the aesthetic language of lighting rather than emphasizing the shape or decor of the object. Therefore, the design of the lamp was only an addition to the lighting properties.

The design of the Insight light has a unique visual effect, combining several design methods. First is creating a visually floating object with translucent acrylic, which touches the surface literally with “fingertips”. Secondly, these are simple and elegant engineering solutions that made it possible to get rid of visual noise in the form of unnecessary structures and fasteners. And the most important thing is creating a futuristic light pattern that creates an accent in space.

Thanks to its elegant and elementary design, the lamp creates a spectacular light pattern. It can accentuate the texture of a wall or table surface. It can also be used for the workplace or as a night light by the bed.

In the design process, we started with light sources thinking through the light pattern that we wanted to see as a result on a wall or table surface. We realized that we wanted to get bright light rays in different directions and soft scattered general lighting. Therefore, we designed a laconic metal shape in the form of a cylinder for LEDs. Then they were covered with diffusers, and they created toned acrylic elements, which should direct the rays and simultaneously create soft lighting thanks to the translucent properties of acrylic.

The most difficult task for us was to come up with the main element. And this element was a metal cylinder to which it was necessary to fix the acrylic in such a way that there were no fasteners and there was no visual noise. In order to do this, we assembled a prototype that did not satisfy us. And we came up with the idea of making a cylinder of two diameters. Therefore, we hid the mounts.
Another difficult task was to calculate the light flux in order to create the shape of the light pattern that we planned at the very beginning.

Technical Properties:
Metal base in the form of a cylinder with different two diameters, LEDs, acrylic matte diffusers, acrylic toned elements for directing light rays creating a floating effect.
LED 6W 550lm, t° 3000K >80Ra 180º, IP 20, Height = 300mm, Diameter = 150mm
