Helvar ActiveAhead is a truly intelligent wireless lighting control solution which easily scales from small to large installations. Once powered up, the wireless ActiveAhead Nodes start communicating with their neighbours automatically on a Bluetooth Mesh network allowing an extremely simple and fast setup experience. Having all the Nodes on one mesh network allows the system to scale without needing to spend time on designing or provisioning different networks or adding gateway devices to allow communication among the Nodes. ActiveAhead Nodes support multiple groups per Node, which can be used for example with overlapping grouping for enhanced comfort and energy saving.

Different types of ActiveAhead Nodes are available for both inside and outside luminaire usage. Wireless luminaires with inbuilt Nodes offer the quickest installation time since only mains cabling is needed. Outside luminaire Nodes allow using standard DALI luminaires while limiting the extra cabling to the room or space in question. These Nodes power and address the local DALI line they create, making it possible to use different light output levels on the connected luminaires. This allows us to meet the needs of the space as well as the usage with a minimum number of Nodes. One can for example dim the wanted lights while in presentation mode or have different shapes and sizes of luminaires in the space without needing to add more Nodes to achieve desired lighting conditions. An ActiveAhead installation can also be built flexibly with a combination of wireless and DALI luminaires as per the needs of the project without compromising the outcome.

The ActiveAhead Nodes include algorithms which are used when the Node is equipped with a sensor. The radio interface acts as the ears to the Node and sensors as the eyes through which the Node can follow what happens in its surroundings. These algorithms are used to offer self-learning which allows the Nodes to follow their neighbours with similar sensor activity. The self-learning turns the Nodes on in a predictive manner which can be used to keep the configurations simple while saving the maximum amount of energy thanks to people having the needed light around them while being able to dim the lights down in areas without presence. Other algorithms are used to calculate automatically the daylight harvesting target level so that the laborious manual target level setting can be avoided. Through automatic operations, more projects get to utilise the energy saving that daylight offers.

Helvar ActiveAhead can be connected to Helvar Insights digital cloud solution for additional monitoring and control services. DALI emergency lighting devices can also be connected to the solution and their function and duration testing and reporting can be automated with Helvar Insights.
