The VIP open-air lounge, located in the heart of Green Village, Tehran, is a cozy and historic space with over 50 years of heritage, designed to host distinguished guests. Surrounded by century-old pine trees, this lounge creates a secluded green oasis, offering guests a sense of tranquility and escape from the urban landscape.
Given the historical nature of the space and the client’s restrictions on the installation of lighting equipment, the project required a highly adaptive approach. The goal was to highlight the architectural character and natural materials while ensuring zero daytime visual pollution. The primary objective was to create a warm, intimate, and inviting atmosphere, providing guests with an exceptional visual experience.
To highlight the natural grain and aged texture of the surrounding wooden walls, Grazing Lighting was employed using RGB-Addressable linear light sources, housed in aluminium-shaded casings. These fixtures were installed as downlights beneath the wooden wall flashing to ensure they remained completely hidden during the day, eliminating any visual clutter.
These linear light sources are managed via a central controller, which keeps the lighting set to warm white on regular nights. However, for special occasions and private gatherings, the system enables customizable, programmable lighting effects, allowing dynamic light movement and color transitions across the wooden walls.
The green perimeter, composed of boxwood shrubs, plays a key role in creating balance and visual harmony. To enhance the natural texture and depth of these green walls, linear uplights were used, ensuring a soft and immersive lighting effect that seamlessly integrates with the wooden wall illumination.
One of the main challenges was to control glare while maintaining a subtle and uniform lighting experience. To achieve this:
-Specially designed aluminum casings were selected to minimize glare.
-For table lighting, 2700K glare-free track lights were used, ensuring a warm and comfortable ambiance for guests.
The VIP Lounge lighting beautifully enhances the wooden textures and lush greenery, creating a visually stunning, intimate, and welcoming atmosphere. The lighting design evokes a sense of warmth, seclusion, and escape, transforming this lounge into a peaceful and exclusive nighttime retreat within the Green Village.
