Dive – Zero55
DIVE by Zero55 is a fully recessed, motorised linear LED lighting system designed to disappear entirely within the architectural surface.
Conceived from an idea by Eng. Matteo Sacconi and developed in Tuscany, DIVE is part of Zero55’s patented Drywall technology — a system created to dematerialise the luminaire and reduce it to its purest essence: light itself.
When switched off, DIVE is completely invisible. Its fully customisable finish ensures perfect continuity with the surrounding surface. The system can be produced in the same RAL finish as the plasterboard to achieve total visual integration, or it can be intentionally highlighted through contrasting finishes, refined wood detailing, or bespoke materials. Every aesthetic and technical aspect can be configured according to specific architectural requirements.
The innovation at the core of DIVE lies in its intelligent motorised rotation system. Once activated, the luminaire rotates with a smooth and controlled movement, revealing a precise and defined line of light. This mechanical gesture transforms an invisible architectural element into a calibrated luminous presence, while maintaining a minimalist and highly refined formal language.
Technologically, DIVE is equipped with high-performance Japanese Nichia LEDs with CRI >90, ensuring exceptional colour rendering and a natural reproduction of materials. This level of fidelity is particularly relevant in museums, galleries and high-end environments, where authentic colour perception is essential.
The Drywall optical system represents one of the distinctive elements of Zero55’s technology. The aluminium optic is manufactured with a high-purity silver surface deposition, capable of achieving 98% reflectance, ensuring maximum luminous efficiency and extremely precise beam control.
Optical design is developed through advanced 3D ray tracing software, enabling fully customised solutions tailored to specific architectural needs. This process optimises light distribution, uniformity, beam depth and visual comfort, guaranteeing high technical performance and design coherence.
The advanced dark light optical system integrates the light source within the luminaire body, completely shielding it from direct view. The result is superior visual comfort, effective glare control and a clean, controlled and architecturally discreet light perception.
The fully recessed installation minimises architectural intrusion and preserves surface continuity, making DIVE particularly suitable for heritage buildings, renovation projects and contexts where structural integrity is paramount. Rather than being applied to architecture, the luminaire becomes part of it.
DIVE embodies Zero55’s hybrid production philosophy, combining engineering precision with artisanal flexibility. Each system can be configured in terms of length, output, optics and finishes, providing a highly adaptable solution for complex architectural scenarios.
