The client for this project is the world-renowned Locavore restaurant group in Bali. In addition to their restaurant and bar venues in Ubud, they wanted to open an exciting bar concept venue further south on the island in the hustle and bustle of Canggu. The Creative concept for the space was defined by Agency X, their partner and we worked in collaboration with them for the lighting concept.
The bar features its own in-house distillery, Yaka tori grill, and vinyl music kiosk. The space has been designed to feel like a converted warehouse with Industrial finishes and an eclectic mix of mid-century furniture.
Lighting was the key to make the space feel ecletic at night. We designed a precise lighting concept, we aimed for contrasts, play with colour, details and intimacy. The key point of the lighting was the long standing bar counter, which also become the main element of the space. We propose to backlit the glass block with pink light from LED strip behind it and create constrast with warm-white lighting for the surrounding area.
Another key point for lighting and design element is 114 nos glass jars that line-up behind the counter, each jars contain local ingredients from Bali and around. On each jar, we integrated dimmable DALI Osram Coin light, the effect on the shelves is mesmerizing.
In order to accommodate different customer experiences, daytime and evening lighting scenes are applied to create the most welcoming dining & drinking settings for the customers. In the late-night lighting scene is dimmed even more to create an intriguing and sensational atmosphere while drinking. A DALI dimming system is used with casambi control, 2700K colour temperature throughout, to create a variety of vibrant yet cozy lighting moods with-in the restaurant and bar space.
