The Clear Coil Collection by LightArt comprises the commercial lighting industry’s first clear, 3D-printed, 100% recycled pendants. The collection harnesses revolutionary molecular recycling technology to upcycle discarded materials like clothing and carpet fibers, dense plastic containers, and packaging into beautifully designed, long-lasting, clear light fixtures.

The molecular recycling technology at the heart of the collection breaks plastics down into molecular components used to create new material. Compared to the traditional mechanical recycling process, which is limited to specific sources of plastic waste that can be recycled a finite number of times, molecular recycling can break down a much broader range of waste an infinite number of times. While mechanical recycling often produces opaque materials that retain the color and clarity of the plastic’s previous use, molecular recycling deconstructs plastics into their fundamental elements, producing clear material.

By integrating this technology into their manufacturing process, LightArt can increase the recycled content used in their materials without compromising aesthetic value or quality. As a result, the company reduces waste destined for landfills while decreasing the production of more plastics from newly extracted fossil fuels.

Dubbed the M series for “molecular,” the Clear Coil Collection introduces six unique pendant shapes that expand upon LightArt’s award-winning Coil family. The collection includes the M1, M2, and M3 pendants, which emphasize geometric forms that enhance the clarity and internal light refraction of the material. In contrast, the M4, M5, and M6 pendants offer more organic shapes, including cylindrical, hexagonal, and elongated silhouettes inspired by natural forms. These designs are not only visually striking but also versatile, making them suitable for a variety of settings from commercial spaces to healthcare environments. The larger pendants, M4, M5, and M6, are particularly well-suited for high-ceiling installations, while the smaller M1, M2, and M3 provide flexible options for diverse applications.

Each pendant is assembled with a PVC-free cord and features TGIC-free powder-coated hardware, reinforcing LightArt’s dedication to eco-friendly practices. To further its sustainability mission, LightArt has introduced the Coil Collection Take Back Program, encouraging customers to return their Coil fixtures for repurposing. The company supports this initiative by covering shipping costs and providing packaging, ensuring an easy return process and contributing to a closed-loop system.

The Clear Coil Collection represents the culmination of LightArt’s five years of expertise in integrating 3D printing technology with sustainable practices. Its combination of innovative material use, distinctive design, and commitment to reducing environmental impact makes it a standout in the field of sustainable lighting. This collection’s advanced use of molecular recycling and its versatile, captivating designs position it as a deserving candidate for the DARC Awards, reflecting LightArt’s ongoing pursuit of excellence in both design and sustainability.
