This private London residence showcases several standout lighting features against a backdrop of relaxed but atmospheric domestic lighting; a beautiful setting for family living – with added drama!

The project’s grandest feature is the geometric wall and ceiling panel wrap-over above the swimming pool, featuring over 200m of linear LED. Mock-ups and close coordination with contractors helped overcome construction challenges, including a seamless skirting detail across a concealed doorway. The wall and ceiling panels are in separate DALI groups which allows for a pleasing relaxation scene in which, although the wrap over effect remains homogenous, most of the ambient light is generated at low level, on the vertical plane.
In the striking basement bar, vertical narrow beams cut across the ridges of a bronze sunrise. This is layered with a concealed linear glow and illuminated bottle shelves at the panel base, bringing the light level down and the focus to the bar’s ‘horizon’.

The reception rooms and bedrooms of the upper floors feature a curated selection of decorative luminaires, integrated joinery lighting and architectural light fittings and details.

Working in harmony with the Creative Lighting Team, Ideaworks Technical Lighting provided a comprehensive package of information including layouts, driver schematics, control schedules and detailed construction support for the electrical contractor and AV integrator. Among its benefits, this holistic approach guarantees flexibility to create the bespoke lighting scenes that were imagined earlier in the design process.

Additionally, over 3,500 tracked and traced lighting components were delivered on time and within budget requirements by Ideaworks.

Creative Lighting Designer Oliver Williamson lead the design coordination and construction support through to final scene setting: “It’s satisfying to experience the spaces and light features that existed first as ideas, and to have completed this project’s journey alongside a very talented internal and external team.”
