67 Pall Mall Singapore is the first Asian outpost of renowned London-based private members’ wine club. Situated on the penthouse level of a prominent Singaporean building, the club is spread across a 15,000 square-foot space. Previously a spa, the penthouse was stripped back to reflect a 1920’s Shanghai art-deco feel. A main feature of the double-heighted dining and drinking hall is a 6m-tall wine tower. The tower houses over 6,000 bottles of premium wines stored at optimum temperature and humidity. A whiskey wall displaying over 400 bottles of whiskey alludes to the whiskey bar that lies above.

The lighting design was integrated within the architecture and interior design, in order to emphasize the design concept and enhance the beauty and features of the overall design. Lighting was used to create a relaxed environment ensuring easy visual orientation and comfort while providing the right amount of ambiance and mood. Special consideration was given to the wine tower feature and how the feature could be illuminated without altering the temperature and humidity within the tower.

The central coffered ceiling in the main bar and dining area is also enhanced through the lighting scheme, with indirect cove lighting softly lighting the curves of the ceiling. Providing narrow spots to the tables was essential to create the right mood for intimate dining and was achieved through remote controlled adjustable spot lights to provide optimal functionality. The whiskey wall is highlighted with linear light that illuminates the individual bottles.

The private dining area lighting was created to provide flexibility within the space and a variety of lighting options integrated within a hanging track blending seamlessly into space. Adjustable spots and linear downlights provide the direct lighting, while indirect light from the hanging track provides ambient light reflecting off the ceiling, each controlled separately for further flexibility. The spirits bar lighting is integrated into the various architectural elements, creating an intimate space for guests. Decorative crystal chandelier lights, combined with recessed downlights provide lighting from the ceiling, while linear light highlights the bottle displays and front of the bar.
