As our needs in modern cities continue to evolve, so too must the urban furniture in this built environment. Fabricated with formed sheet galvanised steel housing, DURHAM is a multi-functional bench that not only provides a comfortable place to rest, but generates its own clean energy from the integrated photo-voltaic solar panels – 4x15W monocrystalline high-efficiency cells. The electricity produced enables the bench to provide illumination via linear RGB in the evening without the need for a grid connection.

DURHAM is also equipped with Wireless and USB for charging of devices such as mobile phones, laptops and other portable electronic devices. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries (2×16.5Ah 12 VDC) allow for up to 17 hours of autonomous operation before needing to recharge. The off-grid operation also means this unique bench can be installed as freely as a regular bench in public parks, walkways, private gardens, or other urban settings, without the need for access to electricity.
