Arto and Joonas are Finnish lighting designers and co-founders of WhiteNight Lighting, established in 2013. Arto began his career in architectural lighting design in 2000 at VALOA design, following his lighting studies at Tampere Polytechnic. Over the years, he has led a multitude of projects, ranging from residential designs to city master plans, both in Finland and internationally. His inspiration is deeply rooted in natural light phenomena. Joonas studied Industrial Design in Rovaniemi, Barcelona, and Berlin before earning his degree in Architectural Lighting Design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 2009. He has worked across Europe in both large corporate settings and independent agencies, combining his passions for lighting and luminaire design at WhiteNight. The unique variations of Nordic light serve as a continuous source of inspiration for him. Their work is characterized by a deep appreciation for the contrasts of light and darkness inherent to Scandinavian environments, striving to incorporate passion, enthusiasm, and playfulness into their creative designs.
