Cocoon is an innovative luminaire family created by UK-based Archlum for hospitality, commercial and high-end residential interiors addressing a common design challenge: lighting must deliver precise, glare-free, beam-controlled illumination while maintaining a consistent, refined and cohesive design language across spaces within a property.

Light behaves very differently across a room, at a bedside, or over a table and other focal points. Too often, that forces specifiers to mix many unrelated product families with visual compromises or settle for one typology that cannot flex across the whole scheme.

Cocoon solves this by designing around a shared core light module, an elegant sculptural spot with advanced optics and deploying it across a coherent range: suspended (fixed or manually height-adjustable), wall-mounted, and table/desktop.

To our knowledge, Cocoon is the world’s first luminaire family to integrate a Bartenbach-grade optic concept beyond typical downlight applications, bringing low-glare performance to eye-level formats where comfort is hardest to achieve.

The optical system is engineered to minimise glare often associated with compact spot heads.

The result is a unique product family designed to feel interconnected from room to room while enabling comfortable light with precise aiming and an easy way to shift from soft ambient illumination to focused task lighting through simple, physical adjustment.

Kinetic, user-facing manual adjustability is a core differentiator. Rather than relying on fixed optics, presets or software menus, Cocoon puts fine-tuning purposely into the user’s hand with a small fingertip twist, like rotating an aperture ring on a camera lens.

Cocoon’s minimalist design features an aperture of just 10mm, keeping the source visually calm and comfortable at eye level. The gently tapered silhouette and continuous curves convey quiet architectural sophistication. It can be used as a single statement or clustered to create rhythm in high-traffic spaces. The suspended Cocoon introduces intuitive height adjustment that changes the light.

A smooth, counterbalanced mechanism lets the user slide the head up or down. Raising the fitting opens the beam for a softer ambient atmosphere while lowering it tightens the beam and increases functional task light. The head can also be aimed, rotating up to 60 degrees.

Designed for versatility, the Cocoon platform can be configured to suit different interiors and mounting approaches, with configurable drop heights. The wall and desk variants extend the same promise of refined flexibility: a consistent visual language paired with glare-free optics for close-range use where comfort matters.

Cocoon also offers specification flexibility: two beam angles (35 and 60 degrees), high colour fidelity (CRI > 90), three correlated colour temperatures (2700 K, 3000 K, 4000 K) and 10W system power with typical light output around 440 to 450 lm, depending on beam angle. It is available with dimmable drivers for integration with standard lighting control systems. It comes in premium finishes such as Polished Chrome, PVD Gold and PVD Gunmetal, among custom colours.
