This light media art project was created in response to a period of profound social and emotional strain, when everyday life is shaped by uncertainty, fatigue, and disruption. In this context, light was reimagined not as a purely physical phenomenon, but as a symbol of support, resilience, and collective strength.
The installation was conceived as a generator-powered, interactive light artwork that invited people to actively participate through a simple, intuitive action. The core idea was to demonstrate that even a small impulse of light can empower others and contribute to a shared sense of hope. The project was launched on the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, symbolizing the moment when darkness reaches its peak and a new cycle of light begins.
The location was selected for its strong social meaning: a central transportation hub where thousands of personal stories intersect every day. The artistic concept was inspired by natural light refraction. A custom system combining glass filters, laser optics, motion mechanisms, and specially developed software generates constantly evolving light compositions. Each visual state is unique and cannot be fully repeated, reflecting the individuality of human experiences passing through the space.
Interactivity was a key element of the project. Visitors could choose a color and contribute their own light gesture to the façade via a digital interface, becoming co-creators of the artwork. The experience was extended through an additional interior holographic installation and a parallel digital campaign, allowing participation beyond the physical site.
The project demonstrates how light art can function as a tool for emotional connection and social support. By combining custom technology, symbolic timing, and public interaction, it transforms an urban landmark into a platform for shared expression, reinforcing the idea that collective light can emerge even in the darkest times.
