The Point of Unity, USA
The Point of Unity is a meditative art sculpture conceived as a space of connection — between sky and earth, human and nature, the fleeting moment and eternity. It was created as an environment where unity is not declared, but experienced.
The installation is built on optical effects and the choreography of light, transforming space into a living interaction. It metaphorically “roots” the sky into the ground, creating the illusion that the sky surrounds a person from all sides — above and below. Immersion into this sense of infinity evokes wholeness, calm, and inspiration, opening space for reflection and creativity. The sculpture works with light and reflection: by day, it mirrors the sky within the earth; by night, it transforms into a place of stillness and awareness.
The viewer becomes an integral part of the installation. Entering the structure, one can feel the mirrored floor beneath their feet, trace the curved walls with their hand, listen to silence or a carefully composed soundscape, and observe how light continuously changes. Each angle reveals a new perspective: even a slight movement may suddenly catch a reflection of the sun or a constellation of stars. The interaction between the real and the reflected occasionally creates gentle disorientation — a reminder of the importance of being fully present, here and now. Engaging sight, hearing, and touch, the installation opens new dimensions of perception and enhances its meditative nature, allowing each visitor to experience a deeply personal moment of unity.
A distinctive quality of The Point of Unity is that it never repeats itself. Light evolves throughout the day, making every moment unique. Dawn, midday, sunset, or night — the mirrors capture the surrounding space and generate ever-changing worlds in real time. In the evening, the sculpture reveals another layer: thousands of tiny points of light glow inside, catching starlight and forming a subtle constellation of reflections. The soundscape becomes a guide into contemplation — inviting visitors to reflect on their place in the world, their purpose, and what truly matters.
The sculpture was conceived and realized during an exceptionally challenging time for Ukraine. Despite all constraints, it preserved its original intention and strength and now has the opportunity to shine at a unique international festival. The Point of Unity stands as a symbol of international dialogue and a voice of Ukraine on the global creative stage — a statement that Ukrainian people and Ukrainian businesses continue to work, dream, create, and inspire, even in times of war.
