Situated between Tetouan and Tangier, Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay is a luxury beachside resort set against the backdrop of the Rif Mountains. The hotel’s layered interior scheme, designed by Muza Lab, draws references from its Northern Morrocco meets Mediterranean setting, blending natural materials and artisanal craft with contemporary elegance.

Nulty Bespoke was commissioned to design a custom lighting installation for a transitional corridor linking the beach to the hotel’s main entrance. Bathed in natural daylight, the brief called for a piece that would elevate the space as an architectural focal point by day and transform into an elegant chandelier after dark. The installation also needed to sit harmoniously within an innately calming interior narrative, rich in fine details such as handwoven textiles and walls of beach-gathered shells.

In response, the studio created a large-scale, handcrafted piece that balances material integrity with a natural quality of light. The design takes the form of a vertical cascade of pendants, suspended from the ceiling to produce a finely proportioned chandelier. Ceramic was selected for its tactile warmth and natural opacity when illuminated, allowing the piece to emit soft light throughout the space while harmonising with the scheme’s pared-back tones.

From a technical perspective, the primary challenge lay in balancing visual lightness with structural performance. The solution was a bespoke metal chain system featuring linear LEDs, arranged in quadrant formations to produce seamless 360-degree illumination. Positioned within an open-ended corridor exposed to Mediterranean air currents, the installation required precise engineering to ensure stability while maintaining a refined visual language.

The final piece appears almost weightless, creating a dramatic focal point that complements the quiet tactility of the material palette.
