The Grand Spider is a monumental light installation created as the centerpiece of the Taoyuan Halloween City Festival. Designed as both a performance stage and an interactive public artwork, it merges architecture, lighting, and narrative into one living spectacle. The truss structure forms the body of a giant spider whose glowing eyes and laser webs come alive every half hour in a synchronized light-and-sound show. Through dynamic RGB projection, lasers, and pixel mapping, the spider transforms into a storytelling entity guiding the audience through scenes of mystery, playfulness, and transformation. Beyond its visual intensity, the project represents connection and unity — turning a temporary stage into a shared civic experience. Combining artistic imagination with advanced lighting technology, The Grand Spider redefines how a festival structure can become a living organism of light.
