In 2023, the Municipal Building in Liverpool was refurbished and redeveloped into the Luxury M Gallery Municipal Hotel. The transformation of Liverpool’s historic Municipal Building into the M Gallery Hotel is a captivating blend of preservation and modern luxury. This architectural marvel, with its rich heritage dating back to the 19th century, has undergone a meticulous refurbishment that seamlessly integrates the building’s historic charm with contemporary design. The grandeur of the original structure has been preserved, from the ornate facades to the majestic interiors. The M Gallery Hotel now stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to heritage conservation, offering guests a unique experience that harmoniously fuses the past and present. Artin Light were the appointed lighting designers on the project and worked in collaboration with the Koncept ID and Faulkner Chester Hall Architects on the transformation of the Municipal Building.
The project involved the reinvention of the Palm Court into a sophisticated bar and restaurant area, along with the addition of a spa facility and a luxurious swimming pool. Artin, appointed as the lighting designers, worked in collboaration with Koncept ID to seamlessly integrate lighting into the overall interior design vision. The magnificent central Palm Court, a focal point of the building, was transformed into a wine bar and restaurant space, highlighting its historic architecture and existing skylights with ornate detailing.
Artin carefully designed the lighting across the interior to accentuate the existing architecture, as well as the new interventions, creating a captivating drama from day to night. The lighting design harmoniously complemented the interior design, enhancing the day to night experience of the hotel.
Throughout the project, our focus was not just on illuminating spaces but enhancing the overall guest experience.
