The Decorative Awards
The darc awards / decorative is a unique concept utilising arc and darc magazines’ reputation as being the most widely read and respected lighting design publications in the world.
With our database of over 5,000 international lighting design, interior design and architect practices we have created a unique opportunity to get every practice involved in the awards process.
The big difference with darc awards / decorative and other design awards is that the international design community is invited to vote on their favourite projects and products via the darc awards website. One designer, one vote (you can’t vote for yourself, that would be silly!), making this the only peer-to-peer decorative lighting awards in the world.
All the projects and the companies who have submitted them, will be present on the website in our darc directory so that, over time, the darc awards website becomes a comprehensive online lighting design resource that can be used by designers and clients alike for inspiration.
“The concept is excellent because the projects will be assessed by a wide group of international independent lighting designers and established light artists. This will reflect a truly global opinion.”

The very first decorative darc night took place on 18 May 2017 at the beautiful Bloomsbury Ballroom, London.
The 2018 decorative darc night will take place on 31 May 2018 at the iconic London nightclub Fabric. Having opened in 1999, Fabric occupies the former Metropolitan Cold Stores of Smithfield Meat Market and features an abundance of dark corners and alcoves that are crying out to be lit.
Every independent designer is eligible to vote for their favourite lighting schemes and products. And by taking part in the voting process, which starts 26 March 2018, you will automatically receive a free ticket to darc night.
Anyone can enter a category, but wherever possible we strongly recommend that the principal lighting designer, interior designer or architect responsible for the lighting scheme compiles the entry.
For a project or product to be eligible for the darc awards / decorative it must have been completed / launched between 1 March 2017 – 1 March 2018*
*previous darc awards entries cannot be entered
The Judging Process
Every independent designer and architect is encouraged to vote online for their favourite lighting schemes and products. What’s more, any independent designer and architect that votes will be entitled to a free invite to darc night (lighting suppliers will be subject to a charge).
